　　After the patient completes the questions, a report is generated for the physician to review prior to the patient’s examination.  This report highlights the patient’s most troubling symptoms and compares them to the patient’s previous responses, enabling the physician to more quickly determine patterns in the patient’s condition.  Physician-patient interactions become more meaningful with the assistance of The Patient Care Monitor?. The PCM further provides an enormous amount of data for research purposes and increases the effectiveness of accruing patients to the best research protocols.

　　The West Clinic Shanghai is the first international site to implement The PACE System?, a revolutionary information technology designed to enhance patient care and improve quality of life, in English and Chinese.  The PACE System? which stands for Patient Assessment, Care and Education utilizes wireless, touch screen, electronic tablets (e/Tablet). Upon arrival at the center, each patient is presented with an e/tablet. The patient is asked to complete a standardized set of questions regarding their physical and psychosocial symptoms via The Patient Care Monitor?, one of the two features on the e/tablet. 

　　The PACE System?: The Patient Care Monitor? (PCM)

　　Through its subsidiary, the Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network (ACORN), The West Clinic International-Shanghai will offer access to the latest research and clinical trials from the US as well as develop new cancer clinical trials tailored for patients in China. Until recently, access to such clinical trials has been difficult and/or often impossible for patients in the People’s Republic of China.

　　Tomorrow’s Cancer Treatment, Today 

　　The West Clinic Shanghai will both recruit new physicians from the US as well as utilize its American Board certified oncology team for this and other sites throughout Southeast Asia. Under the direction of Nancy Bailey, Director of Oncology Nursing and Clinic Operations, local nurses will be recruited for the clinic. Ms. Bailey is the former Director of Research at The West Clinic, Memphis and an oncology nurse practitioner. Nancy assisted with the development of the ACORN research network, serving as the Director of Clinical Operations from 2003 to 2005. Nancy’s previous experience includes 15 years as a nurse practitioner at the University of Tennessee where she received an ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’ from the Director of the National Institutes of Health for her role in clinical research. Nancy has a Masters of Science in nursing from the University of Tennessee, is a board certified family nurse practitioner and is certified as a Clinical Research Coordinator. In addition she is qualified to administer the ONS chemotherapy course for nurses in search of advanced qualifications.

　　Physician and Nursing Expertise

　　f Clinical Medicine. Dr. Tucker was recruited by West Clinic in 2006 to develop The West Clinic Singapore and oversee development of international oncology services.  Prior to moving to Asia, Dr. Tucker was Director of genitourinary oncology at The Angeles Clinic & Research Institute in Santa Monica, CA and an  attending Physician at the UCLA-Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Currently, he also serves as Medical Director for Asia of the ACORN Research Network and as President of The International Medical Travel Association. A frequent lecturer on the topics of prostate and breast cancer, a writer and medical reviewer, Dr. Tucker leads the international oncology team with a caring and comprehensive approach to curing cancer and restoring wellness.

　　Access to the latest research and clinical trials will be available to patients through West Clinic International Shanghai’s collaboration with the Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network (ACORN). 　　The facility will house full-service laboratory and state-of-the-art imaging technologies including digital x-ray, ultrasound, echocardiography and mammography. 　　Steven Tucker, MD, FACP will serve as Medical Director for The West Clinic Shanghai.
